The Center for Prevention of Violent Extremism in Somalia (CPVESOM) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and youth-led organization founded in 2019 in response to the growing challenge of violent extremism and radicalization in Somalia. With a mission rooted in peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and community resilience, CPVESOM works to counter extremist ideologies and reduce the appeal of recruitment by terrorist groups, particularly among Somalia’s youth population.

CPVESOM is governed by a Board of Directors composed of youth leaders, civic activists, and conflict resolution experts. The organization operates through a lean executive team and a network of regional coordinators and youth volunteers. Its leadership model is youth-driven and participatory, reflecting its core belief in youth agency and grassroots empowerment.
